About us:

Idaho Falls Community Tennis Association had another banner year in 2009, hosting a wide variety of tennis activities, including the following:

• USTA League tennis
• Tournaments, including the Singles Pro-Set tournament, Same Gender Pro-Set tournament, Mix-Doubles Pro-Set tournament, and the Young Guns Tournament
• Organized a Recreational Coaches Workshop; Holger Nickel, instructor
• Held a tennis official training; Bubba Bennett, instructor
• Provided officials from IFCTA to tournaments and high school events
• Held several tennis mixers; Irene Robicheaux, chairperson
• Conducted a Block Party and provided instructors for a free tennis camp with 506 participants; camp was sponsored by KeyBank, Apple Athletic Club and Idaho Falls Parks and Recreation Department
• Hosted the Spring Mixed Doubles Championships
• Organized junior tennis lessons through the Idaho Falls Parks and Recreation Department; Kristi Edlin, coordinator
• Held several tennis lessons for local churches, Boy Scouts, and Alternative Educational High School
• Conducted QuickStart lessons at Hope Lutheran school for several months at no cost to the students; Kristi Edlin, coordinator
• Scholarship promising tennis junior players for group lessons with a tennis pro
• Entered a float in the Forth of July parade; Terri Porter, chairperson. (Gave out over 4,000 tennis balls.)
• Organized Junior Team Tennis; Lynda Fennern, chairperson. (Had 45 participants in the local league, three teams to Boise, and two teams moved on to Sectionals.)
• Supported the Idaho Tennis Foundation fundraiser by advertising and promoting the Luke Jensen clinics in August; 72 participants made donations to help fund Tennis is Elementary
• Supported the annual Pro/Am charity tennis event for Help Inc.; Gini Van Siclen, chairperson
• Held the annual General Membership Meeting and Board Elections
 

Still to come in 2009, adult tennis mixers, a mother-son/father-daughter tournament and the New Year’s Tennis Party
