Magic Valley Tennis Association
The goals of Magic Valley Tennis Association (MVTA) are to develop sportsmanship, improve health and fitness and enhance tennis skills, while providing opportunities for competition and encouraging social activities. MVTA had another banner year in 2011 in pursuit of those goals, according to Sue Davis, board president.
"We held indoor tournaments in the winter, one for mixed play and one for doubles play," she said. "Our Block Party, held in the spring, and Tennis 101, held for two months in the summer, were well received.
"After USTA leagues were over, we started drop-in and play events (nicknamed TGIF) for any interested players on Friday nights in August and September," Davis added. "Lots of players came and all had a lot of fun. We hope to find a way to continue Friday night play indoors this winter."
MVTA's annual social/meeting on Saturday, Sept. 17, was also as successful and popular as ever, Davis said, "with many participants, fun tennis and a tasty lunch."
