McCall Tennis Association

McCall Tennis Association has worked hard to provide new tennis courts to the community of McCall over the past three years. Their most recent achievement occurred in late 2008 and into 2009, when they successfully raised $70,000 to rebuild the last two of four public courts. (In total, over $100,000 was raised to rebuild and resurface the courts.) Fundraising was accomplished through private grants, donations, a fundraiser party/luau and a sporting goods yard sale. The courts were completed this fall and MCTA held a court dedication Sept. 18.

McCall-Donnelly High School courts BEFORE and AFTER

The 2009 season kicked off with the Tennis Block Party and a tournament in June. Once again MCTA sponsored the local parks and recreation department with youth tennis lessons in June and July, while their Summer Program Coordinators organized three tournaments. Additionally, Wednesday night Drill and Practice sessions where offered from June through August, and highly attended by CTA members and nonmembers alike.

Now that there are playable courts in McCall, MCTA is looking forward to concentrating on providing youth and adult clinics, as well as summer tournaments. The local tennis season may be short, mid-May through mid-October, but MCTA members make the most of their limited playing time.

When you are vacationing in the area, stop by and check out the new courts. MCTA directors can be reached through their Web site, www.mccalltennis.org, and are happy to arrange a game for you with some local players.
